Policies

The Oxnard Steampunk Fest is a family-friendly, responsible event.

The following festival policies are to ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for all festival-goers:

  • Physical, verbal, or sexual harassment of other guests, staff, volunteers or members of the public is prohibited
  • Disruptive or unsafe behavior that disturbs guests, staff, volunteers or members of the public, or any act which could result in substantial risk of harm to people or property is prohibited
  • Possession or use of any illegal drug, narcotic or banned substance is prohibited
  • Possession or use of any item defined as a weapon, illegal or not, with the exception of costume weapons that are non-functioning or peace bonded (see below) is prohibited
  • Distribution of alcoholic beverages to any person under the age of 21 is prohibited
  • Excessive consumption of alcohol or public drunkenness is prohibited
  • The Oxnard Heritage Foundation board members and staff reserves the right to deem a costume unacceptable and request the wearer to make modifications as necessary. This is a family-friendly festival, and we ask that you use common sense and good taste at all times.
  • Peace-bonding is the act of demonstrating that your weapon cannot be used (either by a zip tie, wire wrap, trigger lock, or other means of securing) and that your intentions are peaceful. The Oxnard Heritage Foundation board and staff reserves the right to inspect weapons and to ask that they be secured or removed.
    The decision on the safety of any weapon is at the sole discretion of the Oxnard Heritage Foundation representatives and is final.
  • The Oxnard Steampunk Fest, the City of Oxnard, the Friends of Heritage Square, and the Oxnard Heritage Foundation, its board members, staff members, volunteers and representatives are not responsible for any loss, damage, theft, or injury with regard to any festival-goer at any time.
  • Festival-goers are responsible for their individual actions and any repercussions that may result. Civil or medical emergencies must be reported to the Oxnard Police Department directly.
